We would need support from the majority of members and some new ideas of how to make it work. It didn't work last time when the mods tried to do it and everyone yelled at them and us.

If you don't like the topic or have any knowledge of the discussion, then don't ever the thread. What's the problem with the threads in question?

I think some people's problem is the fact that TLR now is much different than it was on SOHH and even early on here. There never used to be this many threads on race and now there's a good chance that more than 50% of the first page on any given day are race related. That's a lot of threads to skip over or ignore.

I would say those type of threads may be better in higher learning since its a forum for intelligent discussions but most of the ones who create those threads are just there to race bait or create controversy. So it's hard for the mods to distinguish which are serious topics and which are trolling.

I don't think its hard for mods to distinguish, I think its hard for members to and you get a bunch of people who will :cape: for damn near everything.

Higher Learning would make sense because atleast theres a semblance of maturity in there (as opposed to TLR atleast) but there's so many people who have a predetermined notion of what that forum is who would never accept threads being moved there, which is pretty much what happened with the Race Track when we tried to redo it.

Perhaps a more general social consciousness forum that isn't just limited to race would work but like I said earlier unless there's a large group of member who are going to be vocal and support such a forum, neither the mods nor myself are going to want to put up with all the harassment and accusations that we faced last time we tried something like this.

I didn't know that. That sucks to hear. When we had it TLR was a little better.

I come online to get away from that breh. All the crap off the net should stay there.

:mjlol:....:troll:....:shaq2:
i suppose you could always try a new joint called "the press box"??
put it in the locker room's current spot, and move tlr down under jbo in the lineup
"race, politics, real talk" <-- the forum description line
you'd have to do an audit of higher learning to see it's true content
and adjust higher learning's forum description to demarcate any overlap with press box

:lupe: but i dunno really
no action is probably the best action
anytime you start splitting up forums down to a granular level
you end up with a mess (look at lsa)
the coli simply has too many hyper-involved posters who get super aggressive about any changes:camby:
it's really a drag
because in general- ignoring the current "race" dilemma
this place has to keep evolving, else it will either implode or stagnate

@cook

I think the way The Race was before was flawed. You had the mods controlling what threads went there, and if it had a lick of anything racial they moved it.

Theres nothing wrong with healthy racial discussions but there are some threads that are obviously very offensive and/or blatant trolling.

I think there should be a Race Track but not up to the mods discretion.

Allow us posters to report a terrible thread, and after a certain amount of reports, it gets moved.

Community moderation:yeshrug:

I enjoy the race discussions but SOME go overboard and decline the overall quality of The Coli such as this recent thread:
http://www.thecoli.com/threads/so-my-coli-peeps-is-this-true-yay-or-nay.282012/

That won't work imo. That's the same exact setup as the first race track forum we had where we just dumped troll threads. I dont want any garbage holding forums. If a thread needs to be moved because it's stupid or its over the top trolling then it should just be deleted, not moved somewhere else.

The second version of the race track we tried was an attempt to foster healthy race discussions and we didn't think tlr was really the place for that. With jbo turning into a porn forum it basically means all the weird and troll type threads are now in tlr and to me that doesnt seem like the ideal place to have serious discussions about some of the most serious issues in todays society.

You know who the most blatant offenders are. There the ones with super low rep and constantly cause threads to get derailed. At the very least you can take away their thread making privileges.

I don't know em breh. I'm not going in those long ass threads :whoa:

Snitch on them. Mods will warn them. If that doesnt then the mods get sick of dealing with them and they file that ban request with me and brook
