It did mysteriously happen right as all the UAP and NHI whistleblower headlines started.
I never understood the idea of "distraction" in this context.
Whether or not people are making memes on twitter about the sub isn't going to affect whatever nefarious scheme he thinks is going on.

why would they need a distraction to make a new virus, when the last one was manufactured and released completely unknown to the general public? There are bio labs all over the world that run in relative secrecy. 
Or maybe it was a interesting story in a otherwise slow news week
