I think they got it right.
Harper had a fantastic season.

Dude had an insane .460 OBP and 131 strikeouts is rather low in this era. Especially for a guy hitting 40 bombs. A little unfortunate that he didn't have many runners on base for him this year. Just 99 RBI.

I'm generally against the MVP going to a pitcher, but if they gave it to Zack Greinke this year, I wouldn't have been upset.
Greinke had a 1.66 ERA this year.

How rare is that? The last time someone posted an ERA in the 1.6 neighborhood, it was Greg Maddux in 1995. In fact, in the last 30 years, there have only been 4 instances of a ~1.60 or better:
2015: Zack Greinke 1.66
1995: Greg Maddux 1.63
1994: Greg Maddux 1.60
1985: Doc Gooden 1.53

The only period when people entertained the thought of Trout being better than Harper was when Bryce was struggling with injuries and hadn't lived up to the hype yet (in some ways he did). I think we can put this "debate" to rest now.
Trout IS better than Harper.
