TAMPA, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers added some insurance to their backfield Tuesday by signing veteran Peyton Hillis.

Second-year pro Doug Martin remains the feature back, but Hillis gives the Bucs an option behind him. Hillis rushed for 1,177 yards and 11 touchdowns and caught 61 passes for 477 yards and two touchdowns in 2010 with the Cleveland Browns.

Injuries reduced his numbers the past two seasons. Hillis rushed for 587 yards for Cleveland in 2011 and 309 yards for Kansas City last season.


Is Alstott gonna allow his jersey for to come out of retirement for Hillis brehs?

Can Coach Schiano return Hillis to 2010 form behind our great offensive line?

6'2, 250 lbs, 4.57 40 yd dash...can run and catch out the backfield as well as block. Even can play FB.

Just his numbers in college all the way to his first years in the nfl never showed he had that kinda power

Than he just breaks out for a 1000+ season and looked huge that year

Than he started getting the same chronic muscle injuries that steroid abusers are prone too

I said similar things about him on the Browns. Dude pulling trucks and things when he goes back to Arkansas in the summer for thrills. Showing all types of power that I didnt remember when he was in college. 6'2 250 running a 4.5

Blount was/is better than Peyton Hillis, but what can we do....


If Hillis gets to rock the #40 and then he goes crazy for us in short yardage situations

Blount was garbage on short yardage runs, which totally blew my mind since he should have been built for it. Hillis can get those short yards, but the past few seasons he's had problems holding onto the ball. If he secures the ball, we got ourselves that short yardage back we've been looking for.
