Former Ohio State linebacker and 2016 first-round NFL Draft pick Darron Lee has been arrested on first-degree murder charges in Tennessee, according to multiple reports out of the Chattanooga area.
Local authorities in Hamilton County confirmed that Lee, 31, was taken into custody after police discovered the body of a woman in a home in Ooltewah, a suburb of Chattanooga. According to reports from WDEF and NewsChannel 9, law enforcement responded to a residence where they found the victim deceased. Lee, a Chattanooga native who moved to Ohio when he was young, has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death and tampering with evidence.
This marks a devastating fall for a player who was once a celebrated cornerstone of Ohio State's defense.
While his football career showed immense promise, Lee's life off the field has been increasingly turbulent in recent years. This arrest follows a string of legal issues that began to surface after his NFL career ended.
In April 2023, Lee was arrested in Dublin, Ohio, on charges of domestic violence and assault. He was accused of assaulting both his mother and the mother of his child in separate incidents. At the time, reports indicated that police had been called to the home multiple times.
