This has been hashed out already in older interviews. Think Hip Hop mentioned it on a podcast.

Its like Victory in that respect because the vocal tones and beat fit hand in glove. Many have rhymed over it but none quite capture the magic of the original.

With Rob it was the roughness of his voice over the slinky strings plus the way the bars were structured was so melodic. Sheer genius in terms of composition because it emphasized the hypnotic style of the production whereas other artists would've barred it to death instead of playing in the pocket like BR did.

Chop and drop this into the mix and it would have the spot jumping:

Theres another track which jacked the beat in an R&B flex that I linked in another thread previously:

Yeap... sometimes the beat is just right for the song, or vice versa... Bleek coulda taken this beat and we ain't talkin' about it today because it's just a beat on the album that he rapped on and didn't do the right thing with it.

And this is also where being a producer comes in, as opposed to just making the beat. Lot of people have rhymed over this beat and I don't remember any of 'em. Rob's flow on it was 100% what it needed to be.

So true.

Ive often wondered what would happen in alternate timelines if someone else gets one track that another picked because there is a mystery element that is present on some jams that hit whereas others miss due to the lack of resonance. You know it the instant you hear it as you can tell it'll get the crowd jumping the moment you drop it in your mix.

Heard a lot of C grade bars over 1st class beats and the same in reverse as well because, like you said, this could've been one of them jams instead of becoming an anthem. Another one:

Po murdered this beat along with Barrington and it bangs to this day. Shibbidy dibbiddiy didddlly wooooaaaaaa, seen?
