They were probably spooked that he'd pull the switcharoo on them if he had left the stadium with the game ball so they went and found him ASAP. Although if he didn't give the game ball up, then some fans likely would have ran the fade on him outside of the stadium just to give it back to the team or for themselves.
I would have left the stadium as soon as evand handed it to me, Brady would have had to come off a couple mil to get it back.
