Saw it last night, thought it was great. It's interesting how many great filmmakers this year largely ended up touching on the same themes, many of which define modern post-covid America. Eddington, OBAA, Bugonia, Weapons, etc. Paranoia, mass psychosis, conspiracies, the insincerity of white "woke"-ness, etc. Stone and Plemons were really good. The juxtaposition of Stone's emotionless "I hear you" corporate jargon and Plemon's mania was entertaining as fukk. Also liked how grounded Plemons was. Another actor (and perhaps more importantly another director) would have had that character frothing at the mouth from the jump. Really the only thing that didn't feel great was the turn the ending made, but the last few shots (accompanied by that music) felt satisfying despite that.
It felt like a warped imitation of some Sidney Lumet films. Specifically Dog Day Afternoon and Before The Devil Knows You're Dead.
I also though the music score was a major standout. Wavering between triumph, tension, horror.
