there's many service app templates. google "uber for x template"

Try to learn good UI/UX design early, even if you plan on paying a designer sometime down the road, it's still good to have knowledge in that area.

There's a lot of free courses on Udemy that'll get you started, teaches you the basics and whatnot

If Android: it's good to have a decent handle on Java. If IOS: Learn Swift

Be a master at googling for solutions

Be prepared for hours of frustration lol.

I'm still in school, but I am about to release 2 apps(Android) by the end of summer. Made a simple application for a local company last year, I got lucky with that one though lol.

mobile app or desktop app?

it's a lot to consider..html/css/javascript/xml for UI, java/c(+/++/etc.) for back-end, php or sql for database, etc.
