U had the bay area with too short and e40 doing funk influenced sounds

And miami doing fast paced bass booty music

Hell not all of the east coast was strictly boom bap

EPMD was straight G. Clinton styled funk

And you had mcees like Greg Nice and Breeze the ever flowing mcee whom were very simplistic in the lyrics and delivery

I think great bodies of work are based on BALANCE
