BILLINGS, Mo. (AP) - Fire officials say a woman who died in a house fire in southwest Missouri escaped the house but went back inside to get a coat.
Billings fire chief Henry Boss says the woman's body was found Tuesday in the rubble of the home on U.S. 60 between Billings and Republic.
Boss says the woman went back into the burning home to look for her coat, despite pleas from others to stay outside. Four other people were able to escape.
He says his crews battled sub-freezing temperatures and had difficulty because the home is surrounded by a junk yard.
The Missouri State Fire Marshal's office is investigating the cause of the fire. Boss says the fire apparently started in the wall behind the refrigerator.
