Sorry to bump and old thread, but I don't see the point in buying a new Mac when you can upgrade an old one to run the same as a new machine.
I have a 2012 Macbook pro that still runs like a new machine. I upgraded the RAM and memory
I have a 2015 Macbook air that runs Sonoma through Open Legacy Patch
I have a 2013 iMac that I upgraded to a SSD and to Sonoma with Open Legacy Patch.

I paid less than $250 for each of these.

In my opinion, the Mac upgrades are pretty easy to do.

Just copped a 2018 Pro to go with my 2021 Air. I dont think I'll ever buy a new Mac again.
