What are the brehs thoughts regarding purchasing rental cars?

Good idea? Bad idea?
It's a crapshoot because I have seen both ends. I seen someone get a really good deal on a rental and didn't have any problems besides normal wear & tear. Then my cousin had about a Tahoe from Enterprise and he's been having all kinds of trouble out of that truck so it's a really a shot in the dark. Good luck with whatever you're trying to do though.

not to be crass, but rental cars are often treated like low level prostitutes. They're very much dogged out in many cases. Regardless of how they look on the outside or even the mileage.

Buying a rental car is like marrying that same low level prostitute.

I don't know. They always seem to be fine when I rent them, as in no problems.
Most people drive them normally. The thing that would bother me more is the maintenance history. I know that U-Haul trucks aren't always given maintenance at regular intervals in order to keep them in circulation so the owner gets money from renting them. He can't get money if the vehicle is getting maintenance done.

Check "everything". All door levers (inside and outside), all door locks, windows, mirrors, glove box door, cup holder, emergency jack, spare tire, radio, windshield wipers, windshield fluid squirtters, turn signals, warning light, dome light, brake light, reverse light, head lights, steering wheel column adjustment, front seat sliders, trunk, hood, sunroof, gas cap cover, emergency brake lever, sun visors, A/C vent closure switchs and vent angle levers, and map pockets.

it depends to me on the company, i know for like enterprise these nikkas look at like every ding, every scratch everything when you bring the car back, so most people drive like a old granny in them. I know when i totaled my car and go ta car from them, dude inspected the car when i brought it back thoroughly, i drove that ish slow as hell.

however other rental companies its like ehh an dfolks be flooring that car, doing wheelies and all that.

i would stay away why?

just like a woman if you found out a broad slept with 45 people would you wife an dcommit?

you want a car like your woman low mileagle and a few owners if possibly.

as well most rental companies dont do oil changes when needed, air filters, dont flush the tranny, etc.

if you really are going for it make sure you get a extended warranty and checked out by a mechanic

I bought an 05 jeep cherokee at the end of 05 ... found out it was previously an enterpirse car.

It had 19k miles on it at less than a year old, which is way too high ... but I got a good price, so I was willing to risk it.

The only issue I had was software related, and I'm not sure any treatment by previous drivers could have caused that. Fixed for free under the basic warranty.

Kept the car til I had about 65-70k miles, and had no problems.

Of course, I don't know what happened after that -- and jeeps can go to shyt quick when the miles get close to 100k.

I probably wouldn't do it again (I make more money than I did in 05, so I don't need to take the risk) ... but it worked out fine for me.
