I was talking to my girl about this. I don't know anyone in my age bracket on the path to become a pastor or whatever, most people I know only go to church for their parents, or to impress a woman or something. I do not believe Blacks will all be atheist but I think most of our generation that do choose to believe in a "Creator" will more so be focused on spirituality than the ritualistic traditions that come with the Black Church. I think the simple combo of us realizing the Black Church/ Church in general has been keeping us weak + the combo of the increase in Gays in the black community who are turned off by the "conservative" nature of the Black Church, it will see a decline. Hell if you go to a black church now its filled with old women, only youth you see are usually there because of fam, or if they are there many show lack of interest in what is being told by the pastor.
Thoughts?
This thread isn't to bash religion, bash people who believe in a "creator", etc. Just want to know if you think the Black Church will still have the strong hold it does.
