This fukkhead is mad as hell, and threw the man under the bus like never before.

Also, i heard Michael Kay (Yankees announcer) on the radio today, and he said that he knows for certain, cuz he's heard from people that know the deal, that Cano is absolutely MISERABLE in Seattle. And if you wanna get the dude for less than 100% of the remaining contract, now is the time. :noah:

Here’s a partial transcript:

Van Slyke: “In Seattle, we had (Nelson) Cruz, who was probably the most dominant hitter that I’ve ever personally seen for four months and Cano hitting in front of him. So you would think that Cano would have had a terrific year. But he had probably the worst single year of an every day player that I’ve ever seen in 20 years at the big league level.”

Host: “How did that happen?”

Van Slyke: “He was just the most awful player I’ve ever seen.”

Host: “It wasn’t work ethic. He tries.”

Van Slyke: “He does sometimes.”

Host: “So what happened there, so much promise for your club after you and Lloyd McClendon joined two years ago. What happened last year?”

Van Slyke: “Well our bullpen blew up. Fernando Rodney was horrible. He blew nine of the first 18 chances. Your highest paid, supposedly best player – I mean Robbie’s not a bad guy, let me say that before I say anything bad about how he played. But Robinson Cano was the single worst third-place, every-day player I’ve ever seen – I’ve ever seen for the first half of a baseball season. He couldn’t drive home Miss Daisy if he tried. He couldn’t get a hit when it mattered. He played the worst defense I’ve ever seen at second base. I mean I’m talking about the worst defensive second baseman ever – I’ve ever seen in 20 years in the big leagues. He couldn’t catch the ball. No, I take that back. Any ball that was hit to him was an out. Any ball that he had a chance to turn a double play, he’s still maybe the best in the game today. He’s got a great arm. But I’m telling you, Frank: Robinson Cano cost the GM his job. The hitting coach got fired because of Cano. And the manager and the coaches got fired because of Cano. That’s how much impact he has on the organization. He was the worst player and it cost people their jobs in the process.”

I'm not a huge baseball fan, but as Mariner fan living in Seattle I'm miserable as a Mariners fan. Difference between Cano and myself is I don't have to pretend like I care about the Mariners. He's stuck there 182 days a year having to deal with that terrible organization.

Not only that but he's a long ways from home. There is no Dominican community in Seattle.

:yeshrug: He's got money. He can move his family and friends to be close by if he needs the Dominican support.
He's also the person who signed off on moving himself as far as he possibly can in the MLB from the Dominican Republic.

Like I said if he's miserable and it's because he's playing for the worst run MLB team I completely understand what he's going through.

Batting 289 with 21 hrs and 90rbis is the worst third hitter ever?

:mjlol:

6 HRs and a .660 OPS in the first half. Hit .257 and struck out 61 times. He had a monster second half, but that first half was horrid.

And this guy isn't the first person to say these kind of things about Cano. Mariano Rivera said that he didn't think Cano had a desire to be a great baseball player and when asked who he would take as his second basemen, he said Dustin Pedroia.

Nothing better than when they preface a rant like this with "Let me just say __________ is a great guy, I wanna make that clear. Wonderful guy, great family."

Its like they think saying that gives them a free pass to go in :russ:

Cano will get pissed then Andy comes out like "I didn't mean any harm by it ok? I said you were a great guy, don't take it personally :troll:"

Unless Seattle's paying like 75% of that contract then no thanks.

I love Cano as much as anyone, but that contract is :whoa:

At this very moment tho & looking ahead, I personally think Ellsbury's contract is more of an albatross than Cano's.

And Mo's opinion is cool and all, but I ain't taking his opinion on somebody as gospel. The dude makes shyt look effortless, and he's the unique type to allegedly "not give it 100%" and still be one of the best at his position all-around.
