He's wrong on both accounts.

1. Black people built this country. Irregardless of the day and the language used marking the day, we can celebrate whenever we want. July 4th is our day.

2. A biracial man getting elected office shouldn't be the first time you were proud to be American.

:comeon: on both counts.

1.July 4th is a celebration of white folks happiness to be able to codify their racism without meddling from the British Empire.

2.If there was a time to be "proud" to be American, it would be when A Black Man (no such thing as biracial when they was making blake griffin built mulattoes work in the field, so theres no such thing as a biracial person today) gets elected to be the president ofthe most racist country on EArth.

If you haven't seen this he's saying he finally feels we're all one so now I can appreciate the holiday & before that it was just we're off work, we're bbq-n, no meaning attached to it. The President being black made him feel like this is to be celebrated in a different way, I'm an American & you're an American too way. Honestly, you could say this about a lot of black folk

Michelle Obama said she had never been proud of this country until Obama got elected.

In her adult life. Meaning she was possibly proud upto and including the age of 18, then possibly grew disenchanted with what she perceived as flaws, and then everything was fixed by the presence of her husband's presidency.
