Yea i agreeI don't know....if you've worked in academia then you definitely know that there are some people who just do not see PhD holders as "doctors."
For a lot of people the title "doctor" is strictly reserved for MDs. I've had a number of friends who have said that they would never call someone a "doctor" unless they were a medical doctor....
NOW i will say it is definitely appropriate to call someone with a PhD a doctor in a setting where they are using their credentials....and it looks to me as if this were one of those situations....if she wanted to be called "doctor"...all he had to do was apologize and call her that....not that hard

That would make a funny thread titlewhen keeping it all the way cac goes wrong.

No, and usually I would roll my eyes either way. But it was a formal city council commission meeting and a professional interaction, so her request was totally appropriate. And he didn't just refuse to use her title, when corrected he went the condescending route and doubled down to using only her first name.

". And I don't call they ass anything else for the remainder of our interaction.. You might be "buddy" "chief" "champ" "queen" "sista" "baby" etc,or nothing at all if you really annoyed me. But you will never have that closure of me calling you a doctor
.
