Mahomes wasn’t even on my radar back then and he was mainly seen as a project. The QB we passed on was Watson. He was the obvious pick who beat the mighty Alabama team. People also forget how well he played his rookie season (when Mahomes was still backing up Alex Smith) until he got hurt.

We were 12-4 with Mitch during his 2nd season. If we had Mahomes we would’ve went to the SB that year.
Mahomes was still drafted in the 1st round tho so obviously he was on someones radar.
The bears organization wasn’t ready to draft a person of color for the QB position and it backfired on’em immensely so now they been desperately trying to make up for it ever since then

To this day, I have no idea why Mitch shot up the draft boards like that. What has a QB coming out of UNC ever done? Mitch was a one year starter who went 8-5. Yet he’s the #2 pick in the draft
