The Omar Cooper situation isn't as unique as most would think - it's just he's way more out front than most of the minor kingpins who are in this game. They tend to stay in the shadows. Typically they get in early, build a neighborhood travel team. If a kid from the neighborhood shows star potential, they fund and protect him. The tradeoff is they get a cut of NIL money, and sometimes if a better travel team wants the player, they even get a fee there. Terrence Clarke (RIP) had a situation like that. Ian Jackson definitely had that situation. These drug dudes need to wash the money they've stashed and go legit.

Thought that was back in the 90s not in his Atlanta days, that would be rather recent as post 2007.
And being able to make a name as a drug dealer in a large city, means he must've been active for time
