Call me crazy, but I thought getting millions of dollars to play a professional sport should be more important than the city you are in

The culture of "giving ultimatums and forcing your way to go where you want to play " has always been odd to me. You are literally a millionaire playing a game 99% of the world plays for fun, I don't get it?

A Sixers reporter just mentioned that Markelle Fultz would not even work out for the Sixers if there was not a guarantee that they were drafting him. Yes I know this is not a new phenomenon. Kobe forced his way out of the Hornets drafting him, Steve Francis forced his way out of the Vancouver Grizzlies, etc

But it always seemed odd to me

They're on the road half of the season and you live in your preferred city in the off season. Unless you're a superstar and can pick where you want to play, playing in a non glamorous city shouldn't even be problem imo, especially if you're getting millions upon millions of dollars.

For a guy like Ace Bailey, the NBA technically doesn't even need him. Its going to go on with or without him. He has no leverage, pull, or say so whatsoever.

It's weird to me because in the majority of cities these guys will instantly be in the 1% in terms of QOL, living conditions, and access. Even SLC has it's elite areas. Basically there are very few cities with a professional franchise where it will be "hard" to live as a rich person. Green Bay might be one exception.

As was mentioned you can go live where ever you want in the offseason and more importantly in retirement BEFORE age 40 in most cases. You got mofos getting deployed in the military or people being contractors in place like UAE for a bag and these nikkas acting like spending 5-6 months in the nicest areas of places like San Antonio is such a burden on them.

I hope that people aint gonna feel sorry for Ace Bailey, who is now locked in to a 4 year/$41 million contract to play pro ball. So what if its in damn Utah. Even if he acts an ass and they cut him after 2 years, thats still $18.6 million. He will take home about $10 million in 2 years. He will be ok.

1. It's actually the opposite because their are multiple cities where you can get the millions of dollars from so why do it in a place you don't want to.

2. Ace Bailey is not enamored with making millions of dollars. Ace Bailey has known he was going to be a high draft pick and make millions of dollars for years now. Being in the nba might be some shock and awe experience but making the money you have known you would make for years isn't.

I know this is a problem with New Orleans. Who’s to say there aren’t other franchises like this or other things to consider?
