something didn’t tell them that having a warzone and COD mobile game was maybe pushing it?
They been trying everything to boost player numbers for the past like 5-6 years. Cod getting ready to go under because investors shouldn't have any sayso in the gaming industry. Had they listened to their players, they would still have 15 years ago player counts or more. Might have made a little less from mtx, but they wouldn't be struggling to keep people or get new people so at this point they might have actually made more.
All these folks know is put out old/classic content because they don't want to remove engagement based mtx influencing algorithms that they thought would line their pockets forever.
Every single one of my favorite games has been ruined by investors with zero passion about the project owning majority stock and turning the shyt into an infinite money glitch. Devs try to do what they can, but with no time allotted to work on new well thought out content or qol improvements, they are forced to find new ways to rehash old content and rely on "look guys, it's back! We finally brought it back!" type of shyt.
Imagine paying full price for a game that had only 12 weeks dedicated to core gameplay (less if you consider AI assistance), while the rest of development went to figuring out how to get more money out of you before the game even launches
