Called it. Hip Hop reached a turning point this year. Does so every year ending in 3

94, even 95 >>>>>> 93

There were years I liked in the 80s better than 83, but 83 was the turning point.

There are doper years than 93. In fact Hip Hop got better and better almost that whole decade, but 93 was the year that shyt changed. The beginning of the Golden Era (and the end of diverse subject matter in Hip Hop)

Nah, if 93 was anything, it was the end of socially conscious rap like Public Enemy and more hardcore shyt like Onyx. Once that black power message was taken away, corporate heads took over and gradually diminish lyrical skill ever since. Until now with the new era where you HAVE to be skilled to have a shot of lasting for more than one year.

TYRONE GA!
:laff: at that being the golden era.

exactly...late 80s to early 90s is golden era. Mid 90s to late 90s...last GREAT period to me.

When shyt essentially "split" between major label and indy, commericial/underground in mid 90s, shyt hasn't really been the same. Lots of dope shyt still, but chances of hearing the way you used to isn't the same anymore.

We are in the golden era.

and the album that drops on September 24th 2013, will define the era.

:whoa: 1 Kendrick verse != lyrics coming back

You nikkas are so easily excitable
:what:

This has nothing to do with Kendrick.

Primo said Drake brought lyricism back

As far as Premo is concerned, Drizzy has earned respect for his skills with the pen blackberry. “He brought lyricism back,” he said of the Toronto-native. “For a 22-year-old man, he brought lyricism back. When [Gang Starr's] Step In The Arena came out, I was 22-years-old. And I just thought about it, I was like, Damn, I was a youngster. I wasn’t 30, 31. I was 22 and coming with heat. And that’s why I like that he’s bringing stuff back.

The Roc Nation MC is also on Preem’s radar. “J. Cole, I like that he’s bringing lyrics back,” he added.
