  • Focing a half court shot from a non athlete requires the body to be over extended and risk serious injury.
  • Did the Lakers examine that he has the proper footware.
  • Proper clothing
  • Proper training
  • Verify if he had any Preexisting injuries where he shouldn't have been selected
  • Did they verify if he was wasn't under the influence when they picked him to shoot knowing liquor is being sold at the arena

They probably did but that may still be liable based on state laws.

Preexisting injuries maybe have been captured on the waiver form if they made him sign it.

Alot of businesses just settle when it comes to customer "slips,trips and falls" on their property because its cheaper than court. Next time you're at Walmart or Whole Foods "accidentally" slip on a wet spot on the floor if you don't see a wet floor sign or the area of the spill isolated. You will get paid.
