Cam Explains Why He Left Jalen Hurts Off His Top 10 QBs List

I’m not mad at his original take either. The Super Bowl win and mvp puts Hurts over the top in that top 10 discussion however I’m not mad at arguments leaving him out. But it’s who he’s being left out in favor of? Baker Mayfield? Darnold ? Geno Smith? Hell no

Cam's a clown, his QB "evaluation" list is a clown list, but he's 100% right on the "attacking the messenger" thing to discredit his take. One has nothing to do with the other.

I think Jalen is at worst top 5 in the league, but I've always hated people bringing up Orlovsky's or Chase Daniels' careers as if THEIR accomplishments or lack thereof have anything to do with those of Jalen's.

No different than the "nerds vs athletes" thing in sports journalism (and I use that term VERY loosely, cuz none of these dudes are actual journalists). If you think a reporter isn't allowed to ask tough or personal questions about a player because "they never played the game", or a career backup can't evaluate the play of a perennial Pro Bowler, then 99% of sports debate is invalidated.

That's somewhat of a contradiction though. You can't be OK leaving Jalen out of the top 10 but not be OK with the names he put ahead of him. That's basically the point. If he's NOT top 10, then who is? You only have a pool of 22 names to choose from. That's why his list is a clown list. You have to start scraping the bottom of the barrel to justify the take.

Also, Cam himself has said Jalen is "an elite QB". How fukking "elite" is a player if you consider nearly a third of the players in his position to be better than him?

In general, I'd trust a career backup's opinion/evaluation of a player more than I would that of a starter/perennial Pro Bowler type. Of course, there are exceptions.

That career backup can't lean on their name, though. They've got to be on point, so I'd assume they put more time into crafting their opinion and what they'll back it with. I think Dan Orlovsky, in particular, is solid for the most part.

Cam fukked himself with calling Jalen elite in the past. There aren't more than 4 of those in the game. Jalen's top 10, but I wouldn't consider him cream of the crop.

However, depending on one's criteria for that... if someone called Jalen elite, all I can do is respectfully disagree, even though I can see the reasoning behind it.

That retort would prove Cam's point about how people's main response to an opinion they disagree with is to attack the person who made the opinion.

I dont have a problem with his list based on his criteria of that, I can see the argument on leaving Hurts off. Now if that was a top 10 qb list based on overall stuff, Jalen would easily be top 10.

the only problem i have with cam's list is goff. no way he should be top 10.

i would put hurts on there out of respect for winning the super bowl but based on talent there's 10 others i would take over him.

Hurts had a Top 3 WR core, the best RB in the game and best OL yet the Eagles still didn't have a Top 10 offense last season. Yet Cam's crazy for not having him in the Top 10.

To me. It's Mahomes who's already in the GOAT convo, then Josh and Lamar who are both future HOFs. Burrow whose only lacking the hardware to be in that discussion. And then 5 to like 15 is very fluid and subjective with no one really separating themselves from the pack.
