Former college football and NFL star Cam Newton believes that he should be front-and-center in the first-ever "All-Black College GameDay" show.

On the newest episode of his 4th & 1 podcast, Newton spoke about Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy landing a lucrative partnership with FOX Sports and how he'll now be featured on Big Noon Kickoff.

“I pay homage where homage is needed to be paid,” Newton said. “Dave Portnoy has been a trailblazer for content for years. What he’s been able to do with Barstool and create characters within Barstool — Big Cat, those guys — it’s just wowing.”

But Newton believes that he can market himself in the way that both Portnoy and Pat McAfee have on their respective platforms. He said that a College GameDay show featuring HBCUs at front-and-center would be ideal for him.

“Give Cam Newton a Pat McAfee-like deal… You talk about the content, then you can start showing the tailgates, the student section,” Newton continued. “When it comes to box offices, I can show you what’s interesting about HBCUs. Well, you talking about the content? Which one of these members of the media is willing to go into the student section? I am. This is the sweetest gig in sports.”

“Since y’all don’t want me, that’s cool,” Newton said with a clear nod to ESPN and Fox. “I want to be a part of the Black college football GameDay.”

It's an ambitious idea but also one that would probably be a tough for major networks like ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC.

There's nothing really stopping Newton from just making his own College GameDay-like show on his own for HBCUs in the first place. He can just work with some schools to set up his own show for either YouTube, Twitch or another streaming service in that format and hire people to make the production with him. It doesn't even have to be all that big or expensive.

Waiting for a network to give him a call is probably the slowest path to making it a reality.

My Pops Forever RIP
I thought he meant an all black gameday crew for college football.

If he's focusing on HBCU's how's that going to work when their games aren't featured like that on TV?
if Cam wants to do that, there are channels who only show HBCU's (tryna remember if it's Cleo or Aspire or one of those channels). He'd just have to make his way to them and figure out how he can draw eyeballs to him on there.

In a college landscape where a conference can theoretically schedule games from 11am to 2am the next night, networks aren't gonna do that, but channels tryna break in will.
