Giving all the controversy about patriotism, it got me to thinking. Can a country succeed without strong patriotism? What if the overall sentiment of it's people is a hatred of the goverment? Can that country succeed or is it doomed to fail?

Well, it's open ended question. But for example, one might say Greece would be a country that would lack patriotism. I'm not saying it is. Just their failure might be an example.

Patriotism is a nonsense word. Especially in this context. Was the U.S. founded on unpatriotic grounds in that virtually all its framers greatly feared a federal government and most more readily identified with regional affiliations? Was the USSR founded on unpatriotic grounds in that many of its framers were philosophically against the concept of nations and nationalism? Was western Germany founded on unpatriotic grounds in the ashes of it's nationalism overdose? How do we classify pre-nation states? Medieval states structured out of land claims?

There is no such thing as country success, what's successful for one segment is hell for another.

The usa was never successful. Whites will say it was, but they're only speaking for their segment. Black America has always suffered.

Is racial patriotism necessary for your race or ethnicity to succeed? Yes, absolutely. If everyone saluted the RBG Flag daily and honored Lift Every Voice, there would be progress. But sadly, it's not happening. Kaepernick is getting the ball rolling towards something potentially huge, but white supremacy might stomp it out eventually. Nothing frustrates me more than c00ns who are not racially patriotic. The Olympics thread should be nominated for Tariq's Plantation Celebration.
