At first, he was easy on Reigns. Talked about some shortcomings but definitely shilled lines about wanting him to be ultra successful even though he didn't seem to be anywhere near the praise Austin was giving him. Then Reigns said some weird stuff in interviews about trying to get paid and it seeming like he was more about the push and not trying to get better and Austin picked up on that and couldn't c/s it.

I respect Stone GOAT, but I wouldn't necessarily say he was "carried" by AJ, BUT I will say that I like both AJ and Reigns. I think both gentlemen did excellent in their feud. Stone Cold is so hard on Roman mainly because he seems potential in him and he wants them to have some patience with him and let cook in the midcard and maybe be in and out the main event.
I know some folks will take this, run with it, and say, "See, Stone Cold said Roman sucks!"
With all that being said, I wouldn't hate it one bit if KO and AJ were in the main event scene a lot.

Roman more than held his own in those matches. If you don't like the dude's push it's one thing, but to outright act like he can't work is ridiculous.

He's right. Reigns is carryable because his few moves look cool and he's an athletic marvel. But put him out there with someone who isn't an elite worker and he looks lost.
