Can an album be classic if it takes 25 years to go plat?

Do we have to wait until it gets RIAA certified to deem it classic?

No idea what album you're referring to but it's virtually impossible to pinpoint when an album actually shipped gold/plat.

The RIAA audit doesn't even start until the label/artist pays for it. When the audit is completed = when it's certified.

Look at Wayne for example. He had 10+ certifications posted on the same day, September 27th, 2022. Has nothing to do with when they actually shipped that amount.

Yes, folks like you and i are aware of this. However, when we say Lil Shorty shytstain goes double breasted walmart bathrobe, we're not exactly factoring in all that

We all understand it's about roasting artists we ain't too fond of rather accuracy and reason :steviej:

It doesn'r count until it actually shows up. People can look up the sound scans too, which is actually how many units were purchased.

"Classic" doesn't have anything to do with sales.

So yeah.

There's a million Hip Hop albums that didn't sell, but are undeniably classic. And there's mad albums that sold a lot of records, but are nowhere close to being "classic". It's about quality with classics, not quantity.

This new generation concerned with "numbers" and "Sales" for non physical media, streaming music files are weird as fukk. Nobody gave a shyt that O.C's "Word Life" wasn't at the top of the Billboard 100. :mjlol:
