I know he and LL battled and had beef back in the day but outside of that and his "The Wild Wild West" song I know nothing about dude's music. I've heard that LL actually bit some of Kool Moe Dee's style a bit or either Kool Moe Dee said LL was jocking his style or something like that.

LL is wack anyway now since he did that Accidental Racist song with Brad Paisley. :why:

So what's good with Kool Moe Dee? He's like the only Hip Hop legend who's music I know nothing about. :ohhh:

remember how illmatic dropped and everybody started rapping like nas? thats what happened to kool moe dee. LL was the first to pop using that braggadocio, rapid fire style kmd made popular, so he went after LL. kmd didnt invent rapid fire but he moved it away from story telling and party rhymes into basically bragging and presenting rapping as a craft to be taken seriously. if you can imagine somebody like phonte battling and basically berating somebody like 2 chains on stage for 11 minutes straight, and consequently ja-ruling his career...thats would be equivalent to kool moe dee's appeal...

they actually explain it really well on his unsung episode

Kool Moe Dee was a superstar in the 80's......Never even knew about that Busy B battle till the early 90's.....But I remember Kool Moe Dee's response song to Mama Said Knock You Out......it was like what The Ripper Strikes Back was next to 2nd Round Knock Out. And just like that Kool Moe Dee became irrelevant.

Classic moment: that episode of The Simpsons where before Maggie was born Bart wanted to name the unborn baby Kool Moe Dee Simpson.

But all jokes aside, I like to look back and see where different genres of music started in certain aspects and where different things originated. :manny:

I'm good on just about every big 80's Hip Hop act including N.W.A. Kool Moe Dee was just one of those acts that I had never bothered to check out. But N.W.A., I know all about their music.
