I'm kind of getting nervous about losing my stuff on my ps3, so I want to back everything up. What's the best solution?
Can I back my Ps3 up on a cloud, or do I have to buy a external HDD?

You can back up you saves to the cloud ... especially if you're a PS+ member ..
As for any downloads ... you can redownload anything you previously downloaded ...

Only thing I'm worried about is if it will fit all my game saves and themes

even if you could back it up on the cloud, if you have lots of videos on ur HDD, it would take FOREVER to upload anyways. Just use the external HDD and be done with it.

Another reason why I'm a bit worried. I have tons of videos on my HDD, like you said. Hey, do you know how to replace the HDD with something that has more HD Space?
PS3 uses standard laptop 2.5 SATA hard drives, I swapped my 320 GB HDD with a 1TB months ago

As a PS+ member I get 1Gb of cloud storage ...
Your thems if they're from the PSN store yo can always redownload.
Or... by the new ps3 then do the direct data transfer over ethernet ..

I recommend backing up your game saves on an SD card. I did that every time I beat a new game because Sony deleted my game saves previously when I sent my PS3 in after it got the first yellow death light.
