"Sticking to your guns" can be a great character trait as long as it's backed up by a strong intellect and a humble heart. Otherwise you're(in the general sense, not the OP) just being an idiot.
I know we're always taught not to question ourselves or not to doubt ourselves, but I honestly think those are just platitudes. Blindly adhering to a belief isn't strength, it's weakness. Having the courage to take a good hard look at that belief and honestly assess it, and then reaffirming your commitment (if you honestly think in your heart of hearts that it's true) or discarding it(if you don't).... that's true strength.
