I see all over tv and Twitter people saying it’s great for the league to possibly have two small markets in the finals.

This isn’t baseball there is a cap there isn’t a competitive advantage of being in a big market unless you’re the Lakers and get all time greats through FA every decade.

The Nuggets won recently, the Bucks won a few years ago and the Spurs had a 20 year run of greatness.

I get that some small market teams lost their stars to a bigger market but in general small market teams can easily compete and win titles it’s not baseball

If anything all i'm seeing is people talking about how having an OKC/Pacers final is a bad thing, like these clown ass mfs getting points on the ad dollars :hhh:

Like the Pacers ain't been playing some of the most exciting hoops in the entire league with crazy drama in the games and OKC are a fukking beast on D. That shyt is going to make for a really interesting series. But these hoes talking like corporate shareholders :scust:

Ain't another sport that has more people talk about a sport they hate than basketball.

Market size is a much smaller thing than it was say when the spurs were winning.

The Thunder when they had KD and Russ showed that. People have access to watch any team and be fans of whatever team regardless of where they live

Ratings are definitely gonna be trash and people are gonna blame small market as the reason. But in reality is because the nba constantly pushes and cheats for a team that plays garbage brand of basketball in thunder. Pacers are what ever but ratings would be good if they played big market team the brand of basketball they play is entertaining.

When they bring up "Small Markets"... its just Coli Executives talkin about TV ratings.

NFL is the only league where it doesnt matter who plays, it'll get big ratings.
It's an ESPN talking point because they only want to go to LA, NYC and Miami.

Brand matters more than the market. NFL understands this but NBA doesn't. Biggest brands in the NFL are arguably the Boys, Packers and Steelers and only one would be considered "big market."

The smart market phrase is irrelevant as long as there is a plethora of superstar and all-star talent on the roster. The Spurs had Hall of Farmers, superstar, and all-star caliber guys on the roster during their 20 years of success, Milwaukee had Giannis, who is an international superstar playing with notable all-stars back in 2020, OKC had two superstars and eventual Hall of Famers on their roster along with some notable names.

People who are frowning upon this potential NBA finals matchup between Indy × OKC are “star/narrative obsessed”, the Pacers don't have a superstar and Hali is borderline all-star, OKC while a great team from top to bottom, doesn't really have any well known big-time players either outside of SGA who is currently making a name for himself, so he doesn't have the clout yet, and plus I've seen people still not sold him on being a superstar.

Indy is the first team in quite some time to potentially make the finals without a superstar or notable All-Star leading the way.
