They get a healthy cut of 360 degrees of all income generated:eat:. Meaning everything. Album. Tour. Appearances. Endorsements. etc.:eat::eat:

What's the benefit for the artist? More $$$ upfront.

Whereas back in the day an artist signing a 1 million deal was mindblowing. 50 cent as explosive as he was, signed a 1 million deal.

Today under the 360s you got people like Trinidad James signing 2-3 million dollar deals. It's common now too so there's pretty much no way around it with the majors.

The label gives the rappers advances and budgets for clothes, videos, tours, albums, and marketing, and in return, the artist gives the label a percentage of all the money made from everything, even endorsement deals. (Hence the name 360)

Labels are doing it now because artists don't cake off just music anymore, and most of their income comes from touring and merchandising.

You've probably heard a lot about how :demonic: it is, and that's because the labels can force you to tour and do promotions when you don't want to.

A Mississippi Cotton Field
artists used to sell records and get a very small percentage.... with the rest going to the label and the label trapping an artist through giving them huge chunks of money that the artist had to pay back even after making the album, hiring producers, shooting videos and ballin outta control.

Artists stopped selling albums and stopped caring about selling albums, dropping more mixtapes, doing cheap youtube vids and shyt, doing shows and getting paid. You know, acting like INDEPENDENT artists.

Labels said fukk you artist and started taking cuts of the artists "side" money instead of just reaping the money off their record sales and pimping them out through their advance money.

that's 360 deals in a nutshell.
