Can someone explain to me what makes a wide receiver valuable?

Like, is it how agile they are or how fast they are? I only am asking bc it seems as though if you were tall enough and had the agility and the speed/quickness then you could lock up one of these mufukkas. Like I saw a pic posted of some dude Moss and it said he had 3 catches for like 160 yards and with 3 touchdowns or some ridiculous shyt like that. I do not watch football so can someone who does please explain to me how it is possible?
