always hated this beat because it had that same sound as that other joint rza did..i forget it off the top of my head...sounds like he just sped up the sample and added that sound i was talking about and played a random key over it.

I time coded the sample to start at 8:23 and then the beat plays right after at 9:08. So the main melody in the beat throughout that sounds like an Asian string instrument is a vocal sample?
:ohhh:

@TEKBEATZ @SoulController

No....the Booker T and the MG's sample that plays is just the singing....but most people never noticed it in the song because it plays for a sec at the very start when Ghost is still talking about his shoes.

The actual sample has never been found.

dont even hear it. RZA has said before thats 1 of a number that he cannot reproduce. hes not sure how he made it, theres a missing ingredient imo

I think the missing ingredient is all that coke and that angel dust he was smoking.

:damn:

You heard state dependent memory? State-dependent memory - Wikipedia

Maybe he could reproduce it if he did all those drugs again.

:yeshrug:

I wonder about the same shyt with Havoc not knowing a lot of the samples from Infamous and Hell on Earth. He wasn't doing hard drugs or psychedelics like RZA was, but he was very drunk and high when he was making those beats.

Ohhh. Okay okay. I just played the song and I hear it now.

Thanks.

Damn, I was hoping to get a Wu Gambinos sample in there too. I know the drum break sample but not the piano sample.

If the weird echoing sample in both "Guillotines" and "Glaciers Of Ice" is what he's talking about, RZA does remember how he made it. He talked about it in the "Making Of...." article in XXL back in 2005:

Raekwon, The Making of “Only Built 4 Cuban Linx…” - XXL

RZA: For that beat right there, a very open beat, not too heavy on production. This is me trying to imitate the sound Isaac Hayes did on “Do Your Thing.” That da-na-na-na-na, I found a way to imitate that shyt. When you plug the Yamaha VL7 [keyboard] up to a MPC [sampler], because of the note cutoff of the MPC, it cause the notes to stutter, ’cause it don’t link up perfect. I heard it and I could reproduce it, but only with those two machines. I had the prototype from Yamaha ’cause I didn’t want nobody else to get it.

I thought glaciers of ice was Nintendo's ice climber.

Just listened to it and I don't hear it.

I don't think it's a video game sample unless it's the symphonic version.

This is the opening theme so far.
during the game it plays different music selections and one of them I remember being similar to glaciers of ice.
I have not ran my ice climber emulator to go back to dee in a while though.

That's the whole playlist of the game music, look to the right. I don't hear it in any of them. :manny:

If you find it let me know.
