There won't ever be a team like the 86 mets.
As for now, my jets would have to win at least a couple of chips to contend with the giants.
The mets could over take this town easier
Most people here are bandwagon fans
Everybody became a Yankee fan when they started winnin
Ny is a national league city
Queens, BK, SI and some of manhattan go for mets
Manhattan and BX for the Yankees
The rest is nikkas who don't even watch baseball unless its the World Series and they go for whoever is winnin

As for the Knicks, I hope they never win shyt

Yes. Were they the best team that won a WS? No. But they were the most human squad since those Brooklyn Dodgers teams old heads reminisce about.

They were the every man squad.

I wouldn't say they were the every man squad because Doc, Straw, Keith, and Gary Carter were legit superstars at the time. I think they were so beloved because no other team embodied the arrogance of what being a NY'er used to mean.

Get the fukk out of here. The Dodgers beating The Yankees in '55 is more cherished and beloved in this city than any Mets championship.

And the only thing The Jets are running are the back pages of the newspapers because of the fukkery. Even though there's a large contingent of Jets/Mets/Islanders fans, The Rangers/Yanks/Giants/Knicks run NY sports.

I do think any fanbase loved a team more than Brooklyn Dodgers fans loved their team in the history of North American sports. You talk to an old head and watch their eyes light up when they talk about the Dodgers and Ebbets. And then watch them talk about the Dodgers leaving and it's like they're reliving a loved one getting murdered in front of them.

That's so true. And sad.
