Eminem wasn't doing the whiny voice thing in D12, particularly the first album....
To answer OP, D12 def isn't better than SH, but Proof, Kon Artist, Swift, and Kuniva are/were all pretty dope artists themselves. Kuniva would actually fit right in SH tbh. Dude has a lot of dope mixtapes and can spit like crazy. Swift just released an album last week and I really the first half. D12's stigma is due to Bizarre being fat and wearing a shower cap and Eminem being the lightning rod he is. The production on Bizarre's first two albums was actually very good too btw.
