Can we name some American wrestlers who are worshiped in Japan?

Onviously anyone whos gone through njpw is going to have some sort of fan base, i mean guys in the E
Thats tough to decipher. Usually you get invited to tours of japan based off of your american work so those that are worshipped get brought over anyway.

You would have to ask a japanese fan to know that to be honest. There's no way to meassure if a north american worker is "worshipped" because of his work outside Japan. All publications and TV are mostly aimed towards puro so knowing if a guy like Taker, Austin or Cena are treated like top gaijins like Terry Funk, Stan Hansen or Vader is almost impossible.

If I had to guess I'd say there isn't a wrestler they worship that they haven't seen work in some capacity in Japan. Like, Cena might be well known and respected, but not treated like a HUGE deal as if he had worked in a puro promotion at some point. My guess is they are seen as special attractions but not worship material.

ps: Taker worked Michinoku Pro as parto of the "talent exchange" deal Vince had (it fell through quick as he just got Taka and Funaki under contract and that was that)

Adjusted for inflation Andre the Giant was one of the highest paid wrestlers of all time largely off the strength of his gigs in Japan, he was comfortably making six figures in the 1970's when that was not common at all.

Stan Hansen is probably the most successful and decorated gaijin wrestler in Japan, his AJPW run contains several classics

For a hot minute Bob Sapp was a HUGE celebrity in Japan, nikka was on ice cream bars and shyt
