Im 22, you may be a hip hop head that can name every artists hits from the 80's and 90's but you arent in the norm. I might know a Doug E fresh song if I heard it but I couldnt tell you his songs off the top my head and I dont know anyone from my generation who can. I never said he wasnt mainstream, I said he wasnt mainstream in my generation.

but you dont have to be a hip-hop historian to be familiar with doug e. fresh, unless you just dont want to be. theres always a handful of names from each era that transcend boundaries, as hes one of them from his era. his legacy has been preserved well and hes still around making moves and on TV often. thats ALMOST like saying your generation never heard of run dmc. the dam ncaa player of the year is unofficially nicknamed after him.

lets be reality, you knew darn well who doug e. fresh was, long before all the dougie songs started coming out. sure, you can say that you didnt know he had a signature dance. i can believe that.......but even then, the dance was re-introduced via PAID IN FULL, which is the elephant in the room in this thread, because that movie is what really inspired the dougie craze. people are ignoring that, because it forces them to vote "new york", even if theyre taking the new-nicca approach.
