When I was a kid my cousin killed a family friend over a girl. Family friend and his 2 brothers was real tight with the family as they all hung out in the streets at the corner all the time.
Girl was a teenager, cousin was 17 and about to head off to college for a football scholarship, family friend was in his late 20s. People were calling him out for the age difference but he ain't care. Cousin did 20+ years in prison. The story made the 6pm news and local newspaper at the time. Title of the article literally said something to the effect of love triangle turned deadly or some shyt.
We literally sped home to the scene of the crime from the bowling alley which was only 10 mins away. Someone at the scene called the alley and asked to talk to my dad. (Before cell phones) When we pulled up we seen the ambulance taking away the family friend. That was the only time I had seen my dad cry. My dad had been trying to make peace between the 2 for a long time.
When my cousin got out a few years ago, he pulled up to my dad porch and they had a long talk about it. My cousin never knew that my dad was trying to make peace and was telling the friend to chill all that time. Cousin thought some of our family was on the friend side. Cousin told my dad that the family friend started showing up to public spots where my cousin be at making threats to our cousin over the girl whenever he would see him in public settings. Cousin admitted he was shook cause he was a teenager while this was a grown ass man. Dad had no idea.
His version of events was that they got into a fight and the friend pulled out his gun to shoot, gun got wrestled away and he ended up shooting while they were on the ground wrestling/fighting.
