So I know his first stuff like "microphone fiend" but I heard this,

and realized that I don't know exactly why he is considered the God mc. Maybe because I am from the west coast, but I realized on some of my flows they have his flow, which means I was inspired in someway as a kid before I started rapping.

Anyway the help would be appreciated!

Ra just has an incredible flow. and imaginative rhymes to match. also rhymed on some of the illest beats in hip hop (though I wish his beats were better across the board).

Eric B is President
Microphone Fiend
Livin For the City
New York (Ya Out There)
When I B On Tha Mic
The Saga Begins

Those are my favorite Ra songs.

This is my favorite Ra song:

@Monsieur. Fox asking why he's the God MC is hard to explain unless you understand the context around it.

A lot of rappers before him were on some A, B, C rhyme shyt. He damn near single-handedly changed how people rapped, or what people expected from rappers. How people approached their lyrics, their flow, rhyme scheme, etc.

It's kinda hard to retroactively appreciate it though. Just like I'm sure somebody that owns a PS4 wouldn't see what the big deal about an Atari 2600 is.

Overall your point makes sense (and I agree with it), but Atari is being harsh on Ra. Nobody plays Atari 2600 anymore. People still bump the shyt out of Ra and are inspired by dude. Like you said, it's hard to explain.

I would play the fukk out of some Atari right now breh. And I'm a gaming head.

It wasn't a direct comparison, anyway. I meant it's hard to explain the importance and relevance and historical value of something old (2600) to someone that has only experienced something new (PS4). Especially when one only exists because the other came before it.

He's the single most influential MC in hip hop history. Pretty much every MC that came after him was inspired by him in one way or another.

But wasn't there Ll Cool J?

And what's the difference between him and Kane? I've always bumped Kane as a kid, and they sound similar. I had rakim tapes but always liked Kane more.

Yeah his deliverance is a nice attribute.

BTW I've been meaning to make a thread. I'll freestyle sometimes, last night I was and my head got tired, and I was thinking of Jays lyrical exercise track.

But it reminds me that hip hop through free styling is one of the most strenuous exercises of the mind. And people don't understand how complex the art form is of just rapping in general.

Like an MC commands more respect than any other vocalist. The only problem is we don't have MCs like Rakim anymore who are actually MCs and have that kind of hypnotic control over the crowd. Or maybe we do but in an updated form, I'm not sure. Haven't been to a show in so long.
