Those were ALL based on actual Japanese shows:

Superhuman Samurai Syber-Squad was actually Lightning Superman Gridman

Masked Rider was actually Kamen Rider.

Tattooed Teenage Alien Fighters was a rip-off of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers which itself was a re-vamp of the Super Sentai Series of shows from Japan.

Aside from Power Rangers, the only other shows of a similar genre that were worth a damn...

VR Troopers was actually a combination of three different Japanese shows: Superhuman Machine Metalder, Space Sheriff Shaider, and Dimensional Warrior Spielban.

Beetleborgs was a combination of 2 shows: Juukou B-Fighter and B-Fighter Kabuto

:heh: I still have an official VHS release from the 90's that has 2 episodes of Superhuman Samurai on it. Me & my siblings used to watch the fukk outta it growing up because we didn't have cable till I was 13 (Early 2002).

Only reason I know about these shows is because I used to watch a show in the 80's on USA Network called Up, All Night! which used to show a version of the Super Sentai, but they made it into a comedy by inserting a laugh track, goofy sound-effects and hilarious dialogue. When Power Rangers first started as an American series, I was like......":ohhh: I've seen this before". I was hoping it was gonna be like what I remembered, but it wasn't even close.

EDIT: Just remembered. They called it 'Dynaman' and the actual show was Night Flight.

Here we go......

:deadmanny:

Years before Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, USA Network aired episodes of a sadly short-lived program called Dynaman that took footage from a 1983 Japanese sentai show and redubbed the show What's Up, Tiger Lily-style with comical dialogue and rock music. Dynaman aired in 1988 on USA's late night weekend program Night Flight, and also as a one-hour hour Nickelodeon special. A real tragedy only six episodes were made.
