I dont think we are dummer. I just think stupid people have been megaphones in modern society. The proliferation of the internet in 99' gave voices to the slow people on earth. It got monumentally worse with the birth of vine, ig, and tiktok; all of which will prioritize showing the 100 idiots in the room instead of the 300 geniuses. You'd have no idea our nation had just perfected nuclear-fusion last week based on your feed on twitter or tiktok.





Statistically speaking, humanity had geen getting dramatically smarter and smarter with every new generation ever since the 1800s.

As a side note, i dont think MAGA as a concept wouldve worked in the 90s, cause there was no convenient medium for stupid people congregate. Same could be said for fringe theories like vaccine denial, holocaust denial, slavery denial, moonlanding denial.

I've always found it odd how everyone always gravitated to whatever was the new social media no matter what it was, without hesitation. I always felt weird because I never really cared.

I mean look at twitter...its basically a forum, but for people that dont really want to discuss anything or spend too much time reading.

These apps just exploit peoples narcissism and the weaknesses of their intellect.

Pick up an average person from the street now compared to one from 1999 and the difference would be quite obvious. The irony of people without the net being better informed and aware than those with really speaks volumes as critical thinking especially has all but vanished. Creativity is in the dumps and wave riding is the defacto standard.

Its something I noticed recently and these algos have definitely got something to do with it as people are being fed when they think they're searching but can't tell the difference as their awareness has been shaped to ignore this. Its not just the net, even though thats a huge part of the devolution, as we've seen the general levels of stress be ramped so high that its now a constant background noise that most become numb to because if it ain't one thing is a something something nother... Like all the added environmental toxins, preservatives and the non stop, always on grift that begs and pleads for your attention from your very own portal.

A very interesting time to be in the Game as we were here when the world was still 100% analog and thus can feel the difference. Or maybe not. To me the main thing that stands out is very, very binary thinking (how ironic, considering the sign of the times) with hugely reduced nuance in the forms of shades of gray which means no considering of other perspectives or new information allowed in that doesn't fit what they expect to see in order to confirm their rightness. Crazier still is how people celebrate their ignorance...
