I have to admit, this is one black stereotype that I easily fit. :skip:

My mother even made me take swimming lessons at the Y when I was in elementary school...I sort of learned how to swim (though not very well) but it's been so many years since I actually swam that I'm pretty sure I forgot how. :skip:

It's literally been years since I've been in a swimming pool, and even when I did go in college I basically just chilled at the shallow end. :skip:

Plus I have dreads and I don't feel like getting all that chlorinated water in them. :skip:

So yeah...I'm pretty much :snoop: status when it comes to swimming.

Anybody else in here like that? Or do we have a bunch of pro swimmers on the coli?

they made it manditory here in the school district to teach elementary school kids how to swim shortly after I entered high school. I never got the chance :sadcam:

Yeah, I love the ocean......My favorite is swimming in the Caribbean at this point. Salt water is easier to float in.....

Born from the water people, my parents had me in water before I could speak. That's true for my cousins and other family too. If you're naturally athletic and your family is too (I'm assuming that's true for most of the brothers here), then the water is your friend.

My girl was a life guard in high school. She swims like a fish.

Honestly I think black people not swimming is an American stereotype. I know all throughout the Caribbean all we do is swim. I'd imagine the same is true for South America and Africa.

I can swim I was actually on the swim team when I was younger and a few years in high school. I remember this white boy I worked with came up to me and asked if I can swim I just said yes and walked off. I later found him asking more black people if they could swim. I said are you asking all the black people if they can swim :dwillhuh:? He said yes because he read some article and he never knew it was true. Sad thing was more than half the people he asked said no. Oh well...:yeshrug:
