yeah our economy is heavily propped up by our ridiculous real estate market. and our population growth is because of immigration, which just exacerbates our housing problems. here in toronto, the average 1 bedroom apartment is $2400+ (and that's not gonna get you much). then you got how hard inflation hit, then on top of that, many of our big industries like food, banking, telecom, internet, etc. are monopolized by companies who truly enjoy being allowed to charge us out the ass since they have no competition.

shyt is so unaffordable for regular people that we have an entire generation who basically see home ownership as a pipe dream at this point.

Not sure what the "pom poms" suggestion is when I'm just stating a possible future scenario. And by then the population will be dominated by people unrelated to those actions anyway. They're already saying that by 2040, the majority of Canada's population will be immigrants or their children.
