Pretty bad move for Government just when it seemed like they survived the worst of this story. She's a very well-regarded minister and was among the most effective in his cabinet.

I still would lean to an LPC if an election were called, given the weakness of third party NDP, but if you asked me a month I wouldve said a majority is guaranteed. Now its very much a toss up. If I was advising him I would call an early election.

You don't think he should ride it out?

Early election? Why not wait till October as currently planned?

It seems like they certainly will, if tonight was an indication, but Im not sure if its a good idea. The Justice Committee will drag on, the opposition will call for his resignation or a public inquiry on daily basis, and the Ethics Commissioner's report, whenever it gets released, will put it back in the headlines. He should call the CPC's bluff and bring the question of confidence to Canadians in general.

Early election looks bad :damn:

Most Canadians side with Wilson-Raybould, believe Trudeau has lost moral authority to govern: Ipsos poll

9 point deficit? :wow:

Yeah very bad poll, if confirmed by other pollsters, then they have no choice but to ride it out. The caveat should be that election is still 6 months away and they still have a chance to turn it around.

Tommorow will be a pivotal day in this story with the PM's former top aide testifying to Justice Commitee. Will give indication on whether they will stick to same lines or change course.

Thats the beauty of this sordid tale

Boy Wonder got done in by his own decision

He wanted to be Mr Progressive, hired a female indigenous lawyer as Attorney General

:obama:

then tried to get her to go along with the game, and get in line. thought he could have it both ways

:francis:

She hit him with the

:usure:

now hes all

:dwillhuh:

funny part is, the conservatives would never have had this conflict. they easily wouldve done the same thing the liberals did, or tried to do, but everyone wouldve got in line. no body was gonna resist..

liberals actually get credit here

Yeah so much irony all over the place. Conservatives in general are much effective at the raw excercise of power and are much more likely to comply for the big picture prize. Only one resignation over principle in a decade of Harper Governments.

Just like the GOP. Wielding power at all costs for their ends. While the Dems do not want to wield power and govern.
