Two Canadian men, both wanted in connection to violent crimes, were caught illegally transporting dozens of guns through northern Minnesota this week.
Dayne Adrian Sitladeen and Muzamil Aden Addow, both 29 years old, face charges in Minnesota U.S. District Court for being undocumented immigrants in possession of firearms. Sitladeen is wanted on a 2019 Canadian arrest warrant for first degree homicide, fentanyl distribution and possession of proceeds of crime, according to the Minnesota U.S. Attorney's Office. Addow has outstanding felony arrest warrants in Canada for firearms offenses and kidnapping.
On Monday night, a state patrol trooper pulled over a gray Chevy Silverado pickup with Texas plates after spotting it barreling about 100 mph through North Western Minnesota, near Fergus Falls.
The men gave fake IDs and claimed they were heading to Fargo for a construction job, according to federal charging documents. The trooper searched the truck after smelling marijuana, according to charges.
The trooper found 67 firearms and several pistol magazines stuffed into four bags in the vehicle, the charges say.
Both men are incarcerated at Otter Tail County Jail awaiting their first court appearances.
