Can’t see friend on madden 21?

I tried to post this on the madden Reddit but they removed it so I’ll post it here.

me and my cousin both have PS5s and the PS4 version of madden 21. When we try to do online head to head and go to invite friend we don’t show up on each others list of friends to invite. We’ve tried deleting and re adding each other and other general troubleshooting methods

how do I make sure? We both jus got the PS4 version i don’t think any of us did the free upgrade to the ps5 version

When you on the home screen where you can select games you can hover over the game and press the options button and gone down to game version
