hte steady stream of high-definition remakes for popular Capcom games won't be running dry anytime soon, as the publisher has confirmed that more HD remasters will be a key part of its business strategy going forward.

"HD remasters of our catalogue hit titles will be one of our key business activities," Capcom said during a Q&A session at its latest financial briefing, noting that digital marketplaces will serve as the primary avenue of delivering such content.

"Overseas, it is becoming difficult to sell these lower-priced and re-mastered titles at stores because of the declining number of stores and sales area limitations. Therefore, we started aggressive digital download sales activities," the publisher explained.

"These activities created new demand for these titles. For example, overseas download sales of Resident Evil (HD Remastered) in the past fiscal year were far higher than we expected. It is not a risk but rather the growth of the download sales channel gives users more options. We regard this as growth in opportunities to have allow access for more people to enjoy our games."

A high-definition remake of the original Resident Evil was released earlier this year, selling incredibly well across a multitude of platforms. Capcom just recently confirmed the re-release of yet another one of its popular titles, with Devil May Cry 4 -- Special Edition set to launch on June 23.

Are you happy to see Capcom pursue so many HD remakes, or would you rather the company solely pump out new games instead?

There is a big difference between remasters and remakes dude. This is just money grabbing by Capcom and a tacit admission their new games are shyt.

Onimusha HD collection
Viewtiful Joe 1&2 remastered
Powestone collection with online play
Rival School same as powerstone

This isn't a bad thing Some of these games came out what 10 or so years ago. So I think they could use an update, plus if they sell well these dead franchises might have a chance to reinvigorate in the future.

I'm all for remasters personally. It's nice to have classics on the most current medium. It's no different from when classic VHS were "ported" to DVD or 90s films on DVD were "ported" to BluRay.

What's with all the bytching about classic video games getting re-released with HD upgrades? :what: Like, nikkas are literally, bytching about something that never interested them in the first place. :mindblown:
I like em but its lowkey "remaster/remake your classics because you can't think of/won't try anything new :mjpls:"
