Earlier, the hot news broke that Marvel wasn’t shifting it’s release date for an unannounced Marvel movie from May 6th 2016, the day the Batman Vs Superman movie drops in theaters. Feige planted his flag. Mexican standoff. Fanboy press ate it up. Now to add fuel to the fire, DC knows what they’re going up against.
According to THR, Marvel is dropping the untitled Captain America 3 movie on that date to do battle against Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman and maybe another DC hero or two.
Now don’t get me wrong. I absolutely love Captain America: The First Avenger, it’s my favorite Marvel movie, my favorite Marvel character, and I will most likely fall in love with the upcoming The Winter Soldier which I hear is dope but, Captain America 3 is going up against the Goddamn Batman along with his pals Superman and Wonder Woman.
During the last comic con, DC won the worldwide perception battle with the Batman Vs Superman announcement. I mean EVERYBODY, even non fanboys were asking about that announcement. I couldn’t go to the local bodega to get a sandwich without being asked about Batman Vs Superman. Folks, that kind of perception is rare.
Ironically, back in 1996, when DC went at it with Marvel in the comics, the fans voted and Batman beat Captain America. I even voted for Batman.
